All the Things I Love about You
All the Things I Love about You
All the Things I Love about You
by LeUyen Pham

There are oh so many things a mom loves about her young child. But most of all, she just loves him, no matter what. Bestselling author and illustrator LeUyen Pham combines her experience as a mother and her proven storytelling skills in a humorous and heartfelt love letter of a book. In the book, Mama lists the reasons she loves her little boy: the way his hair sticks up in the morning, the way he says "Mama" (even in the middle of the night), and the way he laughs. Simply written and beautifully illustrated.

If asked to name all of the things you love about your little one, what would your list include? Where would you start? This book is one mom's answer to those questions. The brightly colored silkscreen-style pictures help bring out the humor in the writing. For example, when the mother says she loves the way her little boy looks in pajamas, it is the picture of her struggling to get him out of them, followed by him running away nude and giggling which will encourage a smile from your child.

The gentle silliness of the story encourages interaction with your little one while reading. Take advantage of the repeating format to ad-lib pages, making them apply personally to your cherub. It's also a great book to snuggle and giggle together while reading, and it very well may induce some tickling. Also, the expressions on the little boy's face are vivid and fun; you can make a game out of imitating them and see what reaction you get. I have a feeling you'll earn a smile or two.

My two year-old friend Dano loved the page with the line, "I love the feel of your heartbeats, as if you have a butterfly fluttering in your insides," because the picture includes a spread of multicolored butterflies spread across two pages. Excitedly, he yelled, "Look Audra! Butterflies!" and pointed to each one, naming the colors.
