Angelina and Henry are off on a camping adventure in the Big Cat Mountains and hike deep into the forest. When night comes, however, they're lost. Is Angelina brave enough to calm Henry's fears - and her own?
A story of bravery and courage, this book is part of the Angelina Ballerina series, a set of books about a little mouse that dreams of joining the ballet and has captured the hearts of many children. Watching Angelina be brave and help ease her younger cousin Henry's fears when the pair hears a loud noise in the woods while camping will hopefully show children that there's nothing to be afraid of when things go bump in the night. The illustrations do a good job of showing the anxiety of the duo without overpowering the scene or frightening the reader.
Kids who have been camping will relate to collecting firewood and sitting around the campfire while children who have yet to experience the great outdoors will get their first taste of how exciting sleeping underneath the stars can be. With true to life experiences, such as being spooked by noises at night or wanting to run off and play instead of doing the necessary work, kids will see similarities between themselves and the mice, even in everyday activities.
As a fan of the Angelina Ballerina series, Ava, the little girl babysit, liked this story as well. She thought the characters were adorable and admired the way they were brave in the face of fear. She even talked about how she would like to go camping someday and dance around the fire and sleep under the stars.
