The drawings are simple, and the colors are subtle. But what makes this book stand out is the movement. Each page flows into the next. Even the animals have moving expressions. There is lots of space between the drawings, which is important for this age group. You'll find yourself singing the words. The rhyming is perfect for the story.

It's a fun book to read, and babies will love hearing it over and over again. This is your chance to be silly and make lots of sound effects. It is also a good book to begin pointing out different animals on the pages because there is a lot of repetition.

My grandkids love to "sing" this book. They also enjoy acting out the motions of the animals. This is a great beginning book, but I find when I read it to my youngest grandchild Francie, the other ones quickly gather around. My 4-year old grandson Teddy has memorized the words, and my 5-year old granddaughter Audra is able to sound out some of the words by herself. That's why I love the book so much. It engages each child in a different way.

I just began reading to the twins. I have always told them little stories, but recently they have been very interested in pictures and turning pages. Barnyard Dance couldn't have come at a better time! They love it! I have read it to them countless times and I am very excited for the day that they mimic my movements (twirl with the pigs!) and do the Barnyard Dance themselves.
