This simple book makes a very large impact. Its illustrations are cute and big, and its sentences are kept to three or four words each, making it a perfect title for a young child. It also starts to introduce the concept of opposites in a very straightforward manner.
Your child will love the fact that a baby is the main character and will laugh at all of the book's funny drawings. They will also start recognizing the patterned language and will get excited to hear what comes next. Most of the animals and objects are things that your child will recognize, so the book does a great job of holding the attention of those that are easily distracted.
When I read this story to my nephew Joshua we had a blast throwing our arms wide to show the size of the big objects, then putting our hands close together for the little objects. The book goes back and forth between large and small, so all of this movement kept him really entertained and active. I would recommend this book for anyone because it encourages being active and silly. Joshua is a highly energetic child and although my sister isn’t always pleased with our level of activity, Joshua just loves it.
