Take a  rhythmic adventure that your kids will absolutely love. The story focuses on a crew of misbehaving mice who are doing everything they can to bother the big cat named Max. The story skillfully explores the concepts of numbers and time. The musical cadence of the words will make it very entertaining for your child, and the unique torn paper illustrations will likely make this book different than anything you've ever seen before.

The book employs a lot of repetition and rhyming. The repetition will encourage your child to start to sing along with you as you read. All the numbers in the book are written in capital letters, which will help your child begin to recognize these important words. The short words that are followed by exclamation points will also make your child more excited to follow along in the story.

My niece Emily is quite the performer and loves to play along with stories that include some sort of repetitive game. Boom Chicka Rock is written like a song, and when we get to the "chorus" section of the book, I can count on Emily singing along loudly and excitedly. Boom Chicka Rock is an exuberant story that shows just how much fun reading can be.
