Clip-Clop
by Nicola Smee

Every child adores getting twirled and tossed by Mommy and Daddy. "Again Again," they squeal. That's the rapturous joy Nicola Smee captures, in simple rhythmic text and charming pictures. One after the other, a group of barnyard friends climb aboard Mr. Horse for a ride. Faster, they beg...faster But will "faster" lead to disaster? No...just a satisfying ending that toddlers will love.

The musical cadence of the words will make your child smile since the text is more like a song. Little hands will love to hold the book and practice flipping through its sturdy cardboard pages.

When I read this book with my nieces, Audrey and Emily, it turned into a great afternoon. They loved all of the cute drawings of the farm animals and couldn't stop laughing at them flying through the air. When we were finished reading, I pretended to be a horse and had them climb up on me as I ran around the living room. The two of them kept yelling faster, just like the animals in the book. My sister was momentarily annoyed, but the afternoon was a lot of fun.

It's a funny story about a bunch of barnyard animals who love to ride on their friend, Mr. Horse. The book was named among The Best Books 2006 by Parenting Magazine and School Library Journal. The drawings are sweet and fun - but the most important thing is Emma sat through the whole reading! She didn't try to jump ahead or scamper off to find her sister - she sat close and content.
