Each page of Daddy and Me is filled with colors, shapes, and patterns to catch and hold your little one's attention while they help the narrator search high, low, in and out for his Daddy's tools. Thick cardboard pages make it easier for your child to grasp and help turn the pages.
The phrases on each page are short, but placed with purpose to connect the words and pictures. For example, Daddy's pencils are found under his gloves, so you must lift the flap shaped like a pair of gloves in order to see the pencils. When they are younger, children will enjoy the surprise under each flap. As they learn where the hidden items are, they will get to practice listening to a question and provide a spoken or visual answer by pointing or lifting the flaps themselves. You get to look in the closet, in the tool box, under gloves, behind the paint cans, under the newspaper, and finally in the doghouse!
When I read this book to my friend, Kyle, he loves to look at the pictures and point out the family dog, Henry, who cameos on every page. Kyle always smiles when we open the final flap and see Henry so happy in his new home. We will often read this book two or three times in a row.
