Do Princesses Have Best Friend Forever is the story of two little girls who, over the course of one action-filled day, go from being new friends to best friends! Initially, all they know about each other is that they are both (pretend) princesses. Howeveer, it doesn’t take long for them to find many different activities and games to play with one another. The story has no narrator and is instead told only through direct dialogue between the characters.  The font changes to indicate when a new character is speaking. The sentences are large, with just one sentence per page. This allows young beginner readers to easily follow along, while providing plenty of great pictures. The illustrations are ink and watercolor, presented through non-uniform lines and a variety of colors, beyond just the primary colors, adding character to each scene.

The little girls use their imagination to keep busy all day. They play dress up, make a fort, eat cookies, jump through mud puddles, wash off with a hose, have a sing-along, go to the zoo, climb trees, pretend to be monkeys on the jungle gym, start a marching band, and so much more! Your little girl may recognize some of the activities as ones she also likes to do, or perhaps she’ll get a few new ideas! The girls in the book also decide to make their own friendship bracelets at the end of the day; “Let’s make two bracelets with a double pink heart./ And then we can wear them when we’re apart.” The best part is, the book has two real pink princess bands at the end that can be removed and worn. Your little princess can share with her very own princess friend!

My niece Emily loves this whole series of princess books and was very excited when she got this for Christmas. She said that she and her friend Lilly were just like the girls in the book – they like to play everything together all day long.  Emily gave Lilly one of the bracelets from the back of the book and Lilly couldn’t have been more proud to wear it.
