Join Dora, Boots, and Diego on four new adventures discovering the earth! Dora and her friends learn about the four seasons by returning a young emperor penguin to the South Pole, working together to save Diego from danger, while teaching Boots how to swim! Throughout the episodes, children will learn problem solving skills such as following directions, reading a map, paying close attention to detail, and using teamwork. Although the episodes are primarily in English, many Spanish words are mixed in and defined by Dora and her friends. They are repeated multiple times, so your little one can learn some Spanish words in a very fun way!
One of the most unique features of this video is how interactive it is. Each episode contains directions and questions posed directly at viewers. For example, Diago asks, "What is your favorite animal?" and then he waits a few seconds for viewers to answer. Dora and Boots also encourage viewers to repeat words and sentences after them. Be prepared to hear your little one proudly belting out Spanish words or short phrases, as well as pointing at the screen when Dora asks them to locate something for her. The lessons in each episode are repeated in various forms like English, Spanish, statements, and questions, and will help your child with the different concepts.
My two year-old friend Dano liked the second episode, with the penguin. Spanish for penguin is 'Penguino,' which got a look of recognition and excitement from Dano, since we playing a game where we add 'o' to words to make them rhyme with Dano. For instance, we'd say, "Dan-o likes to ride in a car-o to San Diego." This game always gets a giggle out of him, so he thought Dora was playing the game when she explained that the animal was a "Penguin-o."
