Duck & Goose
Duck & Goose
Duck & Goose

"That egg is mine I saw it first," says Goose. "I touched it first. It's mine," declares Duck.
Duck doesn't much care for Goose at first-and Goose isn't fond of Duck-but both want the egg that each claims to be his. As the two tend to their egg, and make plans for the future, they come to appreciate one another's strengths. And when a bluebird points out that it isn't really an egg-it's a polka dot ball-the two are not dismayed. After all, it is a lovely ball.

This New York Times Bestseller follows two stubborn birds, a goose and a duck, as they argue over who owns an egg that they have found. This hilarious and charmingly illustrated book has fun dialogue and goofy arguments between the two characters that are highly entertaining. The story touches on ideas about getting along and sharing, which are so important to children in this age group.

Your child will love the large, boldly colored illustrations. The duck and the goose are ridiculous and petty characters, that adds a lot to the overall humor. Kids will really relate to this story because they are forming relationships with their peers. They will appreciate the twist at the end of the story, and the cute little bluebird who is much smarter and nicer than both of the argumentative main characters.

My nephew Michael really loves this book and gets a kick out of the stormy relationship between the duck and the goose. Since I enjoy doing anything I can to get my nieces and nephews to laugh, I always use a goofy voice when reading the duck and goose dialogue. Michael always asks a lot of questions about the plot of the story, which makes him more engaged in the process of reading.
