When you're trying to get your little one ready for bed, sometimes the right book is just what you need to make that task easier. Goodnight Goodnight Sleepyhead is a sweet story that follows a little girl saying goodnight to all of the things that surround her. The book also incorporates a lot of different vocabulary words, which are great to repeat at any time of day.

This book is such a successful nighttime book because it has minimal text. Your child is bound to be calmed by your voice as you say goodnight again and again. The muted colors of the large illustrations also contribute to the book's soothing influence. The familiar setting and objects within the book will also make your child feel comfortable and relaxed.

Whenever I babysit for my nieces and nephews, this book is my favorite tool to use when shifting to bedtime mode. By reading softly and slowly, they become drowsier and drowsier. My goal is to move them closer to sleeping soundly. When you share this bedtime story with your child, I think you will find the same result.
