From one of the most beloved picture book creators of today comes a memorable new character and a suspenseful adventure. Kitten sees her first full moon, but she thinks it's a bowl of milk and tries to get at it.
From the moment young reader's meet Kitten, they will be enamored with the sweet feline and her quest for a giant bowl of milk. As the cat tries - and fails repeatedly - to lick the full moon, which she believes is the milk, kids will alternately laugh at her attempts to jump and climb her way to the moon and feel sympathy for her failures. The simple gray-shaded illustrations perfectly capture Kitten's determination and frustration as well as her happiness when she returns home and finds a big bowl of milk waiting for her on the front porch.
The text is simple enough that preschoolers can easily follow along and chime in on occasion. Each time Kitten fails to reach the milk, the story encourages kids to sympathize with the feline with a "Poor Kitten." However, the book ends on a positive note, with a "Lucky Kitten," which is sure to leave a smile on your child's face.
For children who simply adore cats, this story will automatically shoot to the top of the list. I shared this book with Emily, the little girl I babysit, and she loves cats more than just about anything. She instantly cooed over the adorable Kitten and encouraged the kitty to "just try" to reach the "milky" moon.

We have read this book so much I really think my 4 year old has it memorized and never ever gets tired of it. Even my 10 year old was like Yea, I LOVE this book! :) I love watching them sit in our over sized chairs and read it together. We have been reading this at least 10 times a day since we received it and it has gone everywhere with us.
