There is a lot to do before Little Mouse is ready to go visit the barn. Will he master all the intricacies of getting dressed, from snaps and buttons to Velcro and tail holes?

In this adorable comic-book-style story, a young mouse goes through the daily human routine of getting dressed before his mother humorously reminds him that he is a mouse and mice don't wear clothes. As an early introduction to comic books, children will love how the book is presented in a slightly different format than they're used to reading and the muted fall colors create a pleasing backdrop. With the young mouse's inner-dialogue providing the majority of the text and sounding reminiscent of the way a young child talks to him or herself, kids will easily relate to the story and the mouse's excitement of going on an adventure to the barn.

Perfect for four-year-olds, the story offers simple reminders when getting dressed, such as to make sure the tag is in the back. After reading this story and watching the young mouse get dressed, perhaps your child will be inspired to try to dress themselves as well. While the book acknowledges some of the difficulties children face when getting dressed, such as using buttons, it also encourages kids to try to solve the problem themselves.

Emily, the little girl I nanny for, has been getting herself dressed for several months now and has a solid grasp on the process. Therefore, she loved showing off her knowledge, including making sure the tag is in the back. But she found the discussion of making sure the mouse got his tail through the tail hole to be hilarious! The thought of the mouse swimming in the cow's water also caused a fit of giggles.
