Learn how the barnyard animals speak in "Moo, Baa, La La La!" The pictures are simple but high contrast, making it easy for your child to focus on the animals one at a time. The book uses baby humor by imitating the sounds each animal makes, from a sheep's "baa" to a rhinoceros' "snort and snuff". Thicker pages allow your little one to participate by either helping hold the book while you read, or flipping through the pages on their own to look at the pictures.
You can entertain your child by using different tones and pitches to make the animal sounds, causing smiles and giggles. Once your child begins associating the pictures with a certain sounds, they can even join in the noise-making fun. The final page poses the questions, "What sound do you make?" and children love it when you're silly and come up with your own sounds.
When I read this book to 18 month old Dano, he liked to help hold the book and giggle at the sounds and actions I made for each animal. He wasn't ready to join in the sounds himself yet, but he loved pointing out his favorite animal, the dogs, and responded to my prompting to try saying 'woof'.
