Here are Little Guy, Little Pumpkin, and Little Bird. Their grownups love them. So will you.

Vera Williams's shares three adorable tales of little ones wanting more in this Caldecott Honor Award winning book. The three short stories, "Little Guy", "Little Pumpkin", and "Little Bird" show babies of different genders and ethnicities getting more, more, and more love from their family members. The pictures are painted with clear brush strokes and use bright primary colors. The sentences are short and use simpler words, but the font is bubbly and rainbow colored for extra fun. Some phrases are repeated within each story, and the general story line is repeated between all three stories.

"Little Guy," and "Little Pumpkin" are structured and worded similarly; in each story a little one is playfully chased by a loving family member who tosses them up, and tickles their tummy and toes. The young characters end the stories with delighted cries of "More! More! More!" The third story, changes tone a bit and shows a very sleepy little one whose mommy kissed her eyelids and puts her to bed. The sleepy toddler mumbles "Mmm. Mmmm. Mmmm." This book makes a great bedtime story, as you can imitate the daddy and grandma in the first two stories, tickling, kissing, and being silly with your child until they giggle, then calm them down and tuck them into bed for the third story. The small board pages even allow them to easily help you hold the book and turn the pages.

My two-year-old friend Kyle learned a new favorite word from this book - "more." Previously, his favorite word had been "no" (go figure), but "more" proved more fun - especially when it meant more tickling or more of his favorite treats.
