Tom Chapin is a gifted entertainer who charms audiences of all ages. He is one of those natural-born entertainers who, with nothing more than guitar in hand, can totally captivate.
Tom has gained widespread critical and popular acclaim for his kids recordings. Tom and his collaborators John Forster, Michael Mark and Jon Cobert have created a body of songs which are quickly becoming children's classics.
This award-winning album by Tom Chapin focuses on Mother Earth and all the remarkable things about her that we have to be thankful for. The first track introduces us to the Sun and its special role in our everyday lives. Two Kinds of Seagulls names animals that have more than one type. Both of these songs are educational and fun for children. The pace of the music varies between upbeat and slow, but most of the tracks are playful and use rhyming and repetition, which makes the words easier to understand and remember. The instrumentals are wonderfully crafted and will draw your child in with the rich, musical sounds.
Your child will love to sit back and listen to this music, dance, or ask questions about different concepts or words in the songs. They may even do some combination of all three. It is easy to interact with your child when listening to Mother Earth because you can help by pointing out the Sun in the sky, different animals in the music, or by simply answering any questions that may come up. Some tracks like All Through The Night are soothing and good for winding down. While others like On My Way To School are more active and may have your child eager to go for a walk outside. The overall benefit of listening to this album is the fun and musical introduction your child will have to the world around them and learning how they can interact with it.
When I listened to Mother Earth with three-year-old Teo, he most loved the songs about animals and walking to school. Everyday we walk his older brother, Lucca to school and Teo usually wants to ride in the stroller, but when he listened to this song he became more eager to walk. The more exercise for him, the more calm for me, so it was a great find for everyone.
