From bikes to skateboards, this full-color board book encourages young readers to explore the world of words with things that go.
From the fire engine on the cover to the airplane on the back page, this book is filled with things that children love best: things that go. Young children will love looking at photos of their favorite forms of transportation, including various cars, boats and planes. The simple format works well for two-year-olds who may not have the attention span for a full book. It's convenient to be able to just flip through a few pages and look at the pictures without feeling like part of the story is missing.
This board book focuses on building a child's vocabulary and introduces specific vehicles, such as a steamboat and a biplane. You can read the story to your child or they can tell you about some of the objects. It's a great way for kids to feel a sense of achievement when they point to the object and tell you what it is. The last four pages of the book are an interactive matching game for your child also. Where does the sailboat belong? In the harbor or the airport? Kids will love spending hours just looking at the pictures in this book!
I love how the objects are separated out by category: on the water, on the farm, and other places. It creates a nice flow to the photos and helps the child learn about the environment in which the vehicle would be used. The variety of categories gives children the opportunity to pick their favorite page. Danny, a little boy that I babysit, loves construction so the page with a digger and bulldozer is a big hit! Other kids may love the police car or farm pages.
