This lively concept book shows that the world around us is filled with things to count. Three are the dim sum carts filled with yummy treats, eight are the candles on a birthday cake. With brilliantly colored illustrations, an ear-pleasing text, and an informative glossary, this truly multicultural book will make counting a fun part of every child's day.

Roseanne Thong's One Is A Drummer is a counting book with lovely illustrations. The story teaches a bit about Chinese culture and even includes a glossary of Chinese terms. It focuses on lessons about the days of the week and the different seasons, which makes it as educational as it is beautiful.

The simple rhymes and vibrant illustrations will engage your child. Since there is a lot of repetition of numbers in text and pictures, the book packs in a lot of counting. This is a great book to take along on car trips or errands.

My niece Audrey and I read this book, and she thought that all of the illustrations were very interesting. It also gave her a better understanding of numbers and counting. After we finished reading, we started counting different items around the house to reinforce the lesson. This is a great book that demonstrates that there is a whole world of things to be counted.
