by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment

This cartoon series is based on the children's books by Stan and Jan Berenstain. The Berenstain Bears was co-produced by PBS and the Canadian animation firm Nelvana. The setting is Beartown, a busy community in a most suburban-looking forest, where the Berenstain Bear family - Papa, Mama, Brother, and Sister - live in a fashionable hollow tree. Based on the original stories, the 15-minute segments emphasized pro-social values in an entertaining, easy-to-take fashion.

This video featuring The Berenstain Bears is a six episode collection from the series about the beloved Bears. Bears Get a Babysitter takes place in the exciting world of Bear Country. The characters from the books are warm and lovable, but they are even sweeter in animated form.

Since Brother and Sister bear are children, they find themselves in situations that will be very familiar to your little viewer. These two often find themselves in predicaments where they must learn lessons about doing the right thing. These lessons are skillfully told in a way that will impact young viewers. Like the books, the dialogue includes some rhyming, which is also a lot of fun.

These shows are so successful because kids really get caught up in the plot of each episode. I watched the episode where Brother and Sister Bear get a babysitter with my nephew, Michael. His mom got home right in the middle of it, and it was quite the battle to pull him away from the show for a greeting of any kind. Michael loves the stories and the characters, and your child will become attached to the whole Bear Family.
