Join the mouse from "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" as he bakes his own cookies in his little mouse house.

This little mouse was the beginning of one of the most successful series of the last 20 years.  And I think it is responsible for drastically raising the consumption of chocolate chip cookies among two and three year old children everywhere.  Take a cute little mouse, throw in our favorite food, sprinkle with a lot of familiar objects, add a dash of drama--and voila--you have an irresistible little tale.

This appealing story is simple enough for your child to identify with the objects in the book.  It is silly, but not so silly as to be unbelievable.  There is only one reasonable response to reading this book, which is to ask your child if he or she feels like making a batch of cookies.

One of the best days I ever had with my grandson Felix occurred when we read this book and decided he was ready for his first cooking experience.  We went to the grocery store and I let him pick out all the ingredients for the cookies.  Then back home we went to work.  We made the dough and added the chocolate chips, and then carefully spooned the mixture onto the cookie sheet.  He couldn't control his excitement while we waited for the cookies to pop out.  We made an unbelievable mess, but so what?  We got to eat the best cookies ever!

This is a very cute book for the holidays and also as a gift. Lots of baking will be done in our house over the next few months and my daughter has been learning to help out with some cooking. It's a good book to discuss and read with your children and even has a moral at the end of the story. The illustrations are adorable and my children really enjoy reading it. I love that the pages are hard cover so my 2 year old son can't bend them as easily... this book will last a long time. My son even has a mouse that looks a lot like the mouse in this series so he has to have it with him when we read this book. Follow this Mouse as he learns to bake cookies and discovers it's not as easy as he thought it would be but in the end it's very rewarding.

A classic! I read the book once to my little girl, then we went back and she 'read' it to me. It was so cute. The book is a board book, so it's super durable! You can put it in the diaper bag with you when you go out. A great story for little ones.
