This charming book, really two books back-to-back, shows preschoolers that mothers and fathers are equally important and equally special. Five different animal pairs demonstrate the skills that mothers possess - turn the book over and children see fathers doing the same things, in their own way. Children from any kind of family will be able to relate to the familiar domestic scenes portrayed with plenty of whimsy and warmth.

This book is actually two books in one. One focuses on mother and child animal characters, and if you flip it over, you can read the same story with dads and children. The text is identical in each, but the illustrations are different.

The story talks about all the different things that moms and dads do for their children, and the stories are full of love. The illustrations are very sweet and capture tender moments between the cute animal families. Your child will love these pictures and will find them comforting.

My grandma bought this book for my sister and brother-in-law when they had their first baby. I read it recently with my nephew, Joshua, when he was getting ready for a nap. He found the text very soothing and immediately started calming down for rest time. We got to share lots of hugs after we were done reading, and he then fell happily to sleep.
