Just when a little boy thinks he's going to die of boredom from running errands with his mom, the most remarkable, the most stupendous thing happens. He discovers that on this day, and this day only, stores everywhere are giving away a very special treat with any purchase. No, not the usual lollipop or sticker. Something bigger. Much, much bigger. It's a dream come true, except...what exactly do you do with these Jurassic treats? And how do you convince Mom to let you keep them?

This is an exciting celebration of imagination. Every Friday, the main character laments about having to go do some very boring errands with his mother. However, on one particular Friday, they are given a giant dinosaur at each of their errand stops. The mother is not totally thrilled by this door prize, but the dinosaurs soon win her over by taking part in household chores. This is a very creative book that your kids will really enjoy.

The book received an E.B. White Read Aloud Award, and will certainly win your approval as you it with your little one. As you read the book together, he or she will be delighted by the vibrant dialogue that makes the story come to life. The illustrations beautifully capture the fantasy of dinosaurs in modern cities, and the dinosaurs engaged in household chores will make your little one laugh. They will also relate to the plot line of being bored but will love to imagine dinosaurs as a solution to this problem.

My brother Thomas like many youngsters loved dinosaurs when he was a kid. He was so interested in learning the names of different types of dinosaurs, and he always had a plastic dinosaur toy in his hand. He would bring the dinosaurs when he was out running errands with my mother to help curb his lack of excitement. This fantastic book demonstrates that even the most boring day can be transformed with a little imagination.

I had a blast reading this story to Lucian. The story is clever, unique and created some fun conversations as we read along. I found myself laughing along with him as we followed the characters through some silly situations. I let him look at the book again.
