Creatively educational, Beast by the Bunches, will have little ones and adults laughing while they learn. "You've heard of a herd of cows, a school of fish, and a pack of dogs, but what do you call a bunch of owls, bears, and jellyfish? " Mifflin Lowe teaches the names of different bunches of animals through spoken word, rhyme, and songs featuring the guitar, piano, and percussion.

Mifflin Lowe has found a very fun way to teach little ones the names of different animal groups. Each song includes a fact about the animal, which leads to a guess of how that group got its name. For example, Mifflin suggests that perhaps a group of moles is called A Labor of Moles because Moles can dig all day long with their powerful long claws. He also suggests that since the lark is known for its beautiful singing, perhaps that is why a group of larks is called An Exaltation of Larks; "Like small feathered angels, these beautiful birds sing sweet halleluiahs without using words." These fun facts shared by Mifflin serve as memory aids to help your little one remember the different names of animal bunches. The songs also vary in style to help set them apart from one another. A Troop of Kangaroos is presented with the piano and Mifflin’s voices as a joyful show tune; A Rag of Colts is a ragtime tune featuring the guitar and percussion; A Murder of Crows is sung like a barbershop quartet; and A watch of Nightingales is a soft piano lullaby. A few of the tracks are not songs, but silly rhyming spoken words, such as A Clowder of Cats or A Knot of Toads, with humor meant for the little ones, "Why knot? We don't know!"

The lyrics on each track are very cleverly planned to rhyme and entertain, encouraging your child to join in. The first track, Beasts by the Bunches, includes fun lines like, "Never say elephants live in a school, for schools are of fish, and you'll look like a fool." It also includes "la la"s and hand claps that your toddler can join in with. You can help your little one interact further with the CD by having them guess what the next bunch of animals may be called, or even come up with your own ideas of what animals should be called. Can you child come up with a reason a group of jellyfish would be called 'a smack of jellyfish'? How about 'A Gaggle of Geese'? Is it because they giggle and it sounds like 'gaggle'? Their responses are sure to surprise and entertain you!

My friend Dano, who recently turned two, and I had so much fun with this album! I figured he would like it, since he enjoys anything having to do with animals. Each song, we would listen to the introduction, and then try to act like the animals being described. Dano was mimicking me - between bouts of laughing at me. Have you ever tried to imitate a goose or a sloth? It was pretty ridiculous, but fun nonetheless.
